John Hill come from Ireland sometime around 1750 and was settled in what is now Fulton County by 1782. Louis McQuade came to America before 1830. His son, George Washington McQuade, came north of the Mason-Dixon Line with the Confederate Army during the Civil War and stayed. These family stories helped inspire the design for this Irish themed quilt square.
